Synthetic Biology is a discipline that transitions from "investigation of things" to "creating life." Unlike traditional life sciences, which follow a "top-down" exploratory logic, its core approach adopts a "bottom-up" reconstruction strategy and engineering methods. On one hand, it delves into revealing the fundamental principles of life, achieving "learning by building"; on the other hand, it reshapes or designs biological systems from the ground up to benefit humanity, realizing "creation for application."

This conference, themed "Synthetic Biology: A New Gate to Uncovering Fundamental Principles of Plant Biology and Innovating Agricultural Biotechnologies," explores the application of synthetic biology in agriculture and plant research. As an emerging interdisciplinary field, agricultural and plant synthetic biology is poised to revolutionize green agriculture and manufacturing. Innovations and in-depth applications in this area will provide key solutions to global challenges such as food security, human health, ecological sustainability, and the development of revolutionary productive forces, playing a critical role in ensuring global food and environmental security.

Organized by the Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT) , and co-hosted by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shenzhen Biopharmaceutical Promotion Association, this conference aims to advance scientific progress, exchange, and collaboration in agricultural and plant synthetic biology research. It invites leading scientists from around the world to share and discuss the latest developments and future trends in the theories and technologies of agricultural and plant synthetic biology, as well as their applications in innovating germplasm resources for major crops, economic plants, and agricultural microorganisms. The conference seeks to foster the growth of agricultural and plant synthetic biology as a discipline and establish new benchmarks in the field of biomanufacturing.

合成生物学(Synthetic Biology)是一门从 “格物” 迈向 “造物” 的学科。与传统生命科学采用 “自上而下” 的探索逻辑不同,其核心思路是通过 “自下而上” 的重建策略与工程化手段,一方面深入揭示生命的本质规律,实现 “造物致知”;另一方面则通过重塑或从头设计生物系统造福人类,实现 “造物致用”。

本届研讨会以“合成生物学:探索植物生物学基本原理与革新农业生物技术的新大门”为主题,探讨合成生物学在农业与植物研究中的应用。农业与植物合成生物学作为新兴交叉研究领域,将为绿色农业和制造业带来变革,该领域科技的创新突破与深度应用将为解决粮食安全、人类健康、生态环境及新质生产提供钥匙,对确保全球粮食安全和环境安全具有重要意义。

本届研讨会由深圳理工大学、中国生物工程学会主办,福建农林大学、湖南省农业科学院、深圳大学、深圳市生物医药促进会协办,以促进农业与植物合成生物学研究的科学进步、交流与合作为目标,邀请世界各地该领域科学家参与,聚焦分享和讨论农业和植物合成生物学理论与技术的最新动态和未来趋势,以及在重要农作物、经济植物及农业微生物种质创新的应用,助力农业与植物合成生物学学科发展、打造生物制造领域新的风向标。
