The City

Being the capital city of China for over 600 years, Beijing has a lot of well-known historical sites. You will find the city an unforgettable destination, with its ancient Great Wall, the Forbidden City and numerous palaces and temples as a reminder of dynasties lost in the mists of time. Peking university locates at the north-west side of the city, having a beautiful campus and convenient transportation to most tour sites. There is a large selection of hotels and restaurants within walking distance from the university.

Climate

Beijing in early August is hot and dry. The temperature is between 25 to 35°C.

Electricity

The electric current used in China is 220V 50Hz. Hotels provide 220V and 110V (shavers only) power outlets. Please note that plug adapters and converters might be required.

Currency and Exchange

The national Chinese currency is Renminbi (RMB). All payments for goods and services throughout China must be done in RMB, or by major credit cards. Although most shopping malls, hotels and restaurants accept major credit cards including Visa, American Express, Master Card, and JCB, it is highly recommended to carry some cash with you. Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks or currency exchange offices at the airport, hotels. Exchange rates are always posted.
