The following tips may help you prepare for your travel to China:
1. Recently China has introduced a visa waiver scheme whereby citizens of about 50 countries are able to enter China without a visa for up to 15 days. Please check with your travel agent or Chinese Embassy in your home country to find out if you need a visa or not. If you decide to travel with no visa under the visa waiver scheme, please check the rules (for example you have to be able to show the immigration officer your return ticket on arrival). Please also show common sense. For example, please bring with you to show the immigration officer at the border a printed copy of the conference details. On entry you will need to supply details such as “Contact in China” (For tourists that would normally be their Tour Company, but in this case the conference organizers can be the contacts.)
2. Please be sure that your passport has 6 months remaining validity on arrival in China.
3. If you need to apply for a visa for conference attendance, please fill out and submit the standard form available from your travel agent or online from your Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country and please also contact Conference Secretary (Cory Matthew, corym@lzu.edu.cn, Ph +86 178 8081 7911) as soon as possible to request an invitation letter to submit with your visa as additional evidence of your bona fide reason for travel to China.
